Introduction to Screening, Identification and Strategies for teachers

Workshop 1: Introduction to Screening, Identification and Strategies for teachers (EL)
Trainers: Faye Yang & Lin Yusof

This is a brief introduction to screening children in the classroom to identify developmental differences that may require further evaluation or difference in teaching approach. The course aims to provide a framework for teachers to apply in the classroom context. Participants will learn about the Ecological Congruence Assessment (ECA) and how to collect information about child functioning in usual classroom activities, routines, and transitions. Red flags for developmental deviance will be highlighted; and suggestions on how to support these children will be given. Participants will also learn about services available for children who require further specialised evaluation and/or support.
