Workshop 2: Music & Movement (EL)
Trainer: Lavina Chong
This is a short introductory session to showcase a new approach to music and movement in a preschool classroom. This exploratory methodology engages the children and helps them experience the musical process. Songs / Chants / Rhymes will be ‘stretched’ to allow children to internalize the musical concepts and make learning fun and meaningful at the same time.
Participants will learn different ways to extend songs / rhymes / chants and use a kinesthetic creative approach to extend children’s learning.
About the Trainer
LAVINA CHONG’s journey in the field of Early Childhood Educated began in 1990. She has since attained Masters in Science (Early Childhood Education) from Wheelock College, Boston and has professional qualification in Music, Yogakids, Speech & Drama, and Storytelling. She has worked in several reputable preschools in Singapore and specialises in areas such as Infant-Toddler Education, Language Arts for young children, Creative Arts and Drama for Children.
She is a curriculum specialist / trainer with Our Music Classroom Pte Ltd that provides music and movement programmes to both local and international preschools in Singapore and conducts customised workshops for early childhood teachers locally and overseas. She is also an adjunct lecturer with SEED Institute and Wheelock College, Singapore.
